The golden age of Swiss watchmaking industry must be 1950s. The political and economic environment becomes steady gradually and the market demand for perfect fake watches become stronger. There were many excellent works creating during the period. Today’s perfect Breitling was just created to reproduce the charm of the vintage AOPA in 1959.
In 1952, a special model appeared which is also representative nowadays. It is Navitimer. In 1954, AOPA of the US asked Breitling to manufacture an official timepiece on basis of Navitimer. It was the famous Navitimer AOPA 1959. Today’s black dial copy Breitling Navitimer is just developed on basis of the 1959 edition.
Continuing the symbolic flight slide rule of Navitimer, the vintage Breitling knockoff watches are aiming to provide multiple flight data for the pilots: airspeed, fuel consumption, flight time, distance and kilometers per mile and gallon/liter fuel conversion. The small and special beads on the bezel are designed to increase friction, making it convenient for the pilots to use the flight slide rule.
